Pape, William J. (15 JAN 1890 – 10 MAR 1974)
Services for William J. Pape, 84, of route 2, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), were held
at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home here. Mr. Pape died at
9:00 a.m. Sunday at the Havenet Nursing Home.
The Rev. Lester Kringle, pastor of the Owen Alliance Church, conducted the
services, and burial was in the Withee Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Pape was born January 15, 1890 in Chmanche, Iowa, and came to Owen in 1915.
In 1917 he moved to a farm in the town of Hixon (Clark Co.), where he continued
to reside until entering the nursing home in January of 1972.
His marriage on January 25, 1911 to Minnie Ploog, who preceded him in death,
December 7, 1966. The couple's golden wedding was observed in January of 1961.
He is survived by a son, Edward Paper, Birnamwood; two daughters, Mrs. Vincent
(Irma) Miller, Cadott, and Mrs. Harold (Clara) Schopfer, Owen; a sister, Mrs.
Will (Anna Stahr, Davenport, Iowa; eight grandchildren, and thirteen
great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife, were a daughter, four brothers,
four sisters, and a granddaughter.
