"Happiness in Harmony" was the title of the commencement address delivered by
Robert Powless at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls on Sunday, May 19,
1974, at 2 p.m. in the Melvin Wall Amphitheatre.
Powless, Director of Native American Studies at the University of Minnesota,
Duluth, is a full-blooded Oneida Indian from Green Bay. He addressed the
commencement audience in ceremonial regalia.
The University Symphony Band, conducted by W. Larry Brentzel, presented a
concert at 1 p.m. in the Amphitheatre. Following the ceremony, the Faculty
Women's Club served a tea in the ballroom of the Ragestad Student Union for
graduates, parents, alumni and friends.
Patricia Osolkowski, Route 2, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), received a Bachelor of
Science degree, with a major in English and minor in Journalism.
