Laabs, Orville A. (26 JUL 1908 – 30 MAY 1974)
Funeral services for Orville A. Laabs, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), were held the
2nd of June 1974 at St. Paul's American Lutheran Church, Curtiss, with the Rev.
Roger Tellock officiating. Burial was made in Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss.
Mr. Laabs passed away Thursday at 5:10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital in
Marshfield, where he had been a medical patient since the 20th of May.
Saturday night Masonic services were conducted at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral
Home, Owen.
Pallbearers were Orville Schultz, Victor Borgemoen, Lester Krueger, Herbert Roix,
Howard Frane, and Paul Fricke.
A native of Curtiss, Mr. Laabs was born July 26, 1908, and attended Curtiss
Grade School and Abbotsford High School. He worked at the Kraft Cheese Company
in Milan for many years, and later served as president of the Laabs Cheese
Company at Curtiss for many years. Since 1968 he had been employed at the Clark
County Hospital.
He was a former vice president of the Owen-Curtiss State Bank, a 32nd Degree
Mason, he was a member of the Abbotsford Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern
Star, Abbotsford, the Scottish Rite Consistory of Eau Claire, and the Zoe Shrine
Temple at Madison.
His marriage to the former Margaret Williams took place November 15, 1932 in
Curtiss.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James, Bettendorf, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs.
Richard (Judy) Goff, Merrill; a sister, Mrs. George (Merabelle) Pease, Bay City,
Michigan; four brothers, Herman, Ozark, Missouri, Arthur of Mesa, Arizona, Ben,
Abbotsford, and Fred, Curtiss, and four granddaughters.
