Strobl, Thomas Charles (16 JUL 1937 - 6 FEB 2019)
Thomas Charles Strobl, 81, Town of Georgetown, Kennan, died in the Marshfield
Medical Center in Marshfield on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
He was born in Catawba, Wisconsin, on July 16, 1937, the son of Joseph and
Kathryn (Benny) Strobl. He was a 1955 graduate of the Phillips High School. He
served his country in the U.S. Army at the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. He
was married to Virginia “Ginny” Moore in the Bethany Lutheran Church in Catawba
on June 19, 1965.
He was first employed by the Cape Construction Company in southern Wisconsin
doing road construction, and then later by the Lein Chemical Company of Racine.
In 1968 he and Ginny returned to Price County to make their home. He was
employed as a welder and painter by Omark/Blount in Prentice then until the time
of his retirement in 1998. He served as Clerk for the Town of Georgetown for a
number of years. He was a divisional champion boxer while serving in the Army,
and still enjoyed watching boxing, he was an avid fisherman his entire life, he
enjoyed his silky terriers both as pets and as champion show dogs, playing pool,
and listening to old time country music.
He is survived by his wife, Ginny; by four siblings, Vincent, Catawba, Cecelia
(Steven) Gradinjan, Greendale, WI, Philip (Kathleen), Robbinsdale, IL, and Alan,
Minneapolis, MN; by one sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Strobl; by nieces and
nephews, Carol (Jeff) Allen, Tim (Jane) Strobl, Todd Strobl, Stephen (Ruth)
Gradinjan, Yvette (Tony) Milewski, Paige (Wally) Camp, and Gregory (Sarah)
Strobl.
He is preceded in death by one infant brother, Theodore; and by one
sister-in-law, Juanita.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 24, at the
Bethany Lutheran Church in Catawba with Pastor Bert Schultz officiating. Friends
may call at the church on Sunday from 12:30 P.M. until the time of services.
Interment will be in the Catawba Cemetery in Catawba. Military Honors will be
conducted by the Neilson-Winter American Legion Post No. 362 and the Lane
Kreiling American Legion Post No. 122 of Phillips.
