Hemminger, John D. (8 MAR 1896 - 19 JUL 1974)

Services for John D. Hemminger, 78, of 415 N. Fifth Street, Abbotsford, formerly of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 22 at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home. Mr. Hemminger died at 5:40 p.m. Friday, July 19, 1974 at the Medford Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Kurt A. Sampson, pastor of the United Church of Christ, Owen, officiated ,and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Hemminger was born March 8, 1896, at Fontana, and moved with his parents to a farm north of Withee at the age of five. He lived there until 1946, when he purchased a farm north of Owen, which he operated until 1970. He then retired and sold his farm to his grandson, Ronald Hester, and moved to Abbotsford.

He attended the White School in the town of Hixon, and served on the school board for a number of years.

His married to the former Marina Hamme took place June 29, 1918, at West Allis. She survives him.

Other survivors include a son, Earl, Modesto, California; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Harriet) Thorne, Owen; Mrs. Robert (Florence) Hester, Mrs. Ralph (Adele) Baxter, and Mrs. Dorothy Beisner, all of Dorchester; 23 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two sisters, a brother, and a granddaughter.
