Woik, Robert “Bob” Edward (1 MAY 1927 - 6 FEB 2014)

Robert “Bob” Edward Woik, 86, Kekoskee, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope after a brief battle with lung cancer.

Bob was widely known for his generous and loving spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 16 S. Walnut St., Mayville, with the Rev Barry Hoerz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Township of Theresa. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Mayville American Legion Post 69. Immediately following the burial a luncheon will be served at Mayville American Legion Clubhouse, 134 S. Main St., Mayville.

A visitation will be held at Koepsell Funeral Home, 301 N. Walnut St., Mayville, on Sunday, Feb. 9, from 2 to 5 p.m., and also on Monday, Feb. 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul Church, Mayville.

Bob was born in Owen, Wis., on May 1, 1927, to the late Ernst and Iva (Winter) Woik. Among his many accomplishments, Bob proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II; after which he married Ellen Mae Wegner of Lebanon on June 18, 1949. The couple spent the early years of their married life in the Hartford area. They moved their family to Kekoskee in 1967 to take ownership of the Texaco garage. Over the years Bob also held positions at a number of companies in the area including Mayville Metal and Ru-Mar Manufacturing before retiring at the age of 74.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Ellen; children Gregory (Mary) Woik of Mayville, Scherryl (Kimon) Antoniadis of Alameda, Calif., Kathleen Woik of Renton, Wash., Brian (Jackie) Woik of Mayville, and Julie (Finn) Woik of Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren Rebecca (Peter) Lee, Scott Woik, Kimberly (Ricky) White, Josh Livingston, Jess (Pam) Walther, Jenna Woik and Cameron Woik; great-grandchildren Turner, Gavin, Reece, Justin, Jason, Kiernan, Cayden, Cason, Victoria and Braylon. Bob also leaves behind one sister, Olga Hoehn; numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Ralph Woik; and sister Violet Ebeling.

The Woik family extends their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff and volunteers of the Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope for the excellent, professional care that they provided to our beloved dad and for the amazing support that they showed all of us during this most difficult time of our lives.
