Bruesewitz, Mr./Mrs. Fred (Gold – 13 DEC 1969)

Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Bruesewitz of rural Colby celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday with a family dinner, open house and special church services.

A dinner was served to 41 guests at Zion Lutheran Parish Hall at Colby at 4:30 p.m. The head table was decorated with a large cake in the shape of a figure 50, decorated with yellow roses, special candle stikcs made by one of the sons, with gold candles and red poinsettias.

Other tables were decorated with candles and red poinsettias.

Just preceding the open house, from 6 to 8 p.m., was a special program by the young people. David Strathman read a description of some of the vents in the couple's life, and a girls group sang songs for each event.

A prayer and blessing were given during the regular 8:15 service at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor Pankow.

Mrs. Bruesewitz wore a corsage of yellow roses, and her husband bore a boutonniere made from a yellow rose. The flowers were gifts of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Steinwagner and Mr. and Mrs. Fredric Bruesewitz children and grandchildren of the couple.

Other gifts included, a mother's ring for Mrs. Bruesewitz and a tie clip for Mr. Bruesewitz.

The couple was married December 13, 1919 at the home of the groom's oldest brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bruesewitz, at Spencer. The Rev. A.F. Zielsdorf officiated at the services.

Their attendants at their marriage were also present at the 50th anniversary celebration. They were Mrs. Arthur Bruesewitz, a resident of the Marshfield Convalescent Home, Elsie Behrendt of Wausau, Emma Wood of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. George Krueger of Spencer, Elvo Boehlein of Auburndale, and George Kresling of Rockford, Illinois.

Mr. Bruesewitz was born November 3, 1897 at Kewaskum, Wisconsin. He received his education at Kewaskum and Colby. His hobbies include carpentry work, gardening, and fishing.

The former Nellie Stowell was born August 20, 1895 at Oak Center, Wisconsin. She received her education at Marshfield, and before her marriage was employed as a stenograph and bookkeeper. She enjoys sewing and crocheting, as well as fishing.

After their marriage they lived at Marshfield for a time, where he was employed at Roddis Lumber and Veneer Company. They then operated farms near Spencer and Colby.

They have two sons and a daughter, W.A. Bruesewitz of Waukesha, Mrs. Hebert Steinwagner of Unity, and Fredric Bruesewitz of Marshfield. There are 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Two sons died in the service in Europe. They are Harold Edwin Bruesewitz, who was killed in the Battle of the Bulge in France, on January 25, 1945. Raymond John Bruesewitz died in Italy on August 17, 1946.
