Gengler, Catherine (25 SEP 1879 – 7 JAN 1970)
Mrs. Anton J. Gengler, 90, of route 2, Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin, formerly of
Abbotsford (Clark Co., Wis.), died Wednesday, January 7, 1970 at Fort Memorial
Hospital, Fort Atkinson, where she was a patient since December 24.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning, at St. Patrick's Church,
Whitewater, with the Rev. E. Braun officiating at the mass of requiem. Six
grandsons served as pallbearers for the interment made in Calvary Cemetery,
Whitewater.
Mrs. Gengler, the former Catherine Bodewin, was born September 25, 1879 in
Dacada, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. She taught school priort to her marriage to
Anton J. Gengler at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thorp (Clark Co.), April 19,
1909.
They lived in the town of Hammel for many years. They lived in Abbotsford a
number of years, and in September of 1959 went to Medford, where they stayed
with the Matthew Gengler family until 1963. Since that time they have been at
Fort Atkinson with their daughter, Mrs. Edward Sigmund.
She is survived by her husband at Ft. Atkinson, and four daughter and three
sons: Mrs. Martin (Catherine) Braun, West Chicago; Mrs. Terhesa Zeman, Ft.
Atkinson; Mrs. Walter (Isabel) Sigmund, Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada; Mrs.
Edmund (Delores) Sigmund, Ft. Atkinson; Anthony Gengler, Vesper; Eugene Gengler,
west Bend; and Matthew Gengler, Medford.
There are 41 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren surviving.
