A tight state budget may mean delays for the planned replacement of the Allan
Street bridge on Medford’s north side.
According to city coordinator John Fales, he has received unofficial word from
the Wisconsin DOT that projects with state and local funding will be put on hold
this summer as the state deals with deficits.
The project will replace the single span bridge with a two-span concrete slab
bridge with an overall length of 78.5 feet, a roadway width of 34 feet from curb
to curb, and a seven foot wide raised sidewalk on the south side of the bridge.
The project is estimated at about $600,000 depending on bid amounts with the
federal bridge aid paying for 80 percent and the city paying for 20 percent.
