Sterling, Elizabeth (8 OCT 1890 – 14 FEB 1970)
Funeral services for Mrs. Ned Sterling, 79, who died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday,
February 14, 1970 at Memorial Hospital of Taylor County, Medford, were held
Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford. The Rev.
Kenneth A. Dix of Colby officiated at the service, during which Mrs. Eugene
Strathman was organist and accompanist for Mrs. Allen Duvall who sand "Heaven Is
My Home" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
The pallbearers for the interment made in the Abbotsford Cemetery were Gerald
and Ronald Bemis, Dennis Bowen, Dan Buss, Ron Gosse, and Wayne Schade.
Mrs. Sterling, the former Elizabeth Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
Brown, was born in the town of Holton (Marathon Co., Wis.), October 8, 1890. She
attended the former Rosedale School
On November 16, 1910 she and Nedry Sterling were united in marriage at
Abbotsford, and they operated a farm in the town of Holton until 30 years ago,
when they moved to Abbotsford. In 1960 they celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary.
She is survived by her husband, one son, Lester, of Woodburn, Oregon; four
daughters, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Bemis of Ottumwa, Iowa, Mrs. Charles (Evelyn)
Elsltom of Lake Bluff, Illinois, Mrs. Ernest (Marguerite) Schade and Mrs. James
(Nita) Buss, both of Abbotsford.
There are fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves
one brother, John Brown of Abborsford, and one sister, Mrs. John (Nellie) Dusik
of Augusta.
One son, Melvin, was missing in action during World War II. Her parents, a
sister, and two brothers preceded her in death.
