Orth, Norman (7 JUL 1909 – 17 FEB 1970)
Funeral services were held Saturday morning, February 21, 1970, at 10 a.m. for
Norman Orth, Chicago, formerly of Colby (Clark Co., Wis.). He died early Tuesday
evening, February 17, 1970 in Chicago of a heart attack.
The Rev. Francis Rushman officiated at services at St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Colby. He was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery. Military services were conducted by
VFW Post 2227 of Colby.
The pallbearers were Sylvester Tesmer, Myron Orth, John C. Pribnow, Robert
Tesmer, Leon Steinwand and Harold Baumgart.
A general rosary was held Friday evening at 7:30 and a Forester rosary the same
evening at 9 at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby.
Born at Colby July 17, 1909, Mr. Orth received his education at St. Mary's and
Colby public school. He worked at the Security State Bank in Colby before
entering the armed forces. He was a veteran of World War II. After he completed
his service duties he worked as an auditor for the U.S. Government for about 10
years.
He then went to Chicago and worked for the Corrigan Construction Company until
the time of his death. He had resided in Chicago for the past five years.
Norman M. Orth was aa charter member of the VFW Post 2227. He was a member of
St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Foresters.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Orth Sr., survive. Tehre are three brothers,
Conrad Jr. of Colby, Joseph of Swanton, Ohio, and Emory of Metamora, Illinois,
and four sisters, Mrs. Vern (Violeta) Luepke of Aldo, Illinois, Mrs. Earl
(Gertrude) Fager of Forreston, Illinois, Mrs. Alice Frook of Fond du Lac, and
Mrs. Edward (Jeanette) Chamberland of Monmouth, Illinois.
One brother, Roger, preceded him in death in 1952.
Persons from out of town attending the services were from Swanton, Ohio;
Metamora, Aledo, Monmouth, Rockford, Hodane and Forreston, Illinois; Fond du
Lac, Loyal, Owen, Neillsville, Unity, Thorp, Spencer, Stevens Point, Wausau,
Dorchester and Abbotsford.
