Dietsche, Sylvester (8 JUN 1918 – 16 FEB 1970)
Sylvester Dietsche of Stevens Point, formerly of Abbotsford (Clark Co., Wis.),
died February 16, 1970 at the Veteran's Hospital at Minneapolis, where he had
been a patient since December 5.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen's
Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Interment will be made in the parish cemetery
in the spring.
He was born on June 8, 1918 at Colby, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Dietsche.
When he was a year old, the family moved to Abbotsford, where he attended
school. Later he was employed by the Soo Line Railroad.
He was a veteran of World War II, enlisting at Wausau on March 12, 1942. He was
discharged as Staff Sergeant on November 26, 1945. He was employed by the Sool
Line until 1964, when he retired as a conductor after losing a leg from a
malignancy.
He is survived by three sisters: Mrs. France Schoch, Mrs. Stanley (Bernice)
Kostka, Miss Florence Dietsche; two brothers, Daniel and Vincent, all of Stevens
Point, and a brother, Edwin, of Kiel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
