Mrs. Bertha Schumacher observed her 90th birthday anniversary Thursday, March 19, 1970, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Koenig, Abbotsford. Relatives and friends came for the occasion.

Mrs. Schumacher makes her home with the Koenigs during the winter, and with the Reuben Haman family at Milan during the summer.

The nonagenarian is in good health and has never been hospitalized. She enjoys visiting, watching TV and reading, rug weaving, doing small things about the house and gardening in the summer.

The former Bertha Krueger was born March 19, 1880 in Granville, and came to the Edgar area as an infant. Her marriage to John Schumacher of Edgar took place January 25, 1900, at St. John's Lutheran Church, town of Wien. She is a lifetime member of that church, and a charter member of the Ladies' Aid.

The Schumachers farmed until the death of Mr. Schumacher February 24, 1935. In 1950 Mrs. Schumacher moved to Milan.

The couple became parents of four daughters: Mrs. Koenig of Abbotsford, Mrs. Reuben Hamann, who spend the winter in Tucson, Arizona, and the summer in Milan, Mrs. Elsie Amhaus of Edgar and Mrs. Golda Gartman, now deceased.

She has eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Henry Krueger of Wausau, and one sister, Mrs. Emily Bauman of Schofield.
