A Colby High School senior, Cheryl Gosse, was one of 11 finalists to receive a
scholarship from the Laird Youth Leadership Foundation.
Cheryl is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Gosse. She plans to attend the
University of Wisconsin to study Medical Technology.
The scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $1,500, depending upon need.
Cheryl's scholarship has not yet been determined.
This eyar a total of $15,500 is being awarded to the 11 seniors chosen from the
high schools in the 7th congressional district.
Chairman of the selection committee was Marshall Taylor, a former superintend of
schools at Wausau.
It is the third annual selection. Recipients are chosen on the basis of
scholastic and leadership capabilities. "The number of applicants and the
quality made selection difficult," Taylor said.
