Derks, Patricia M. (13 DEC 1939 – 11 MAR 2019)

Patricia M. Derks, 79, of Stanley, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 11, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Systems, Eau Claire, due to pneumonia during her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on December 13, 1939, in Stanley to the late John and Tillie (Konwinski) Holewinski. Pat grew up in the area and graduated from Stanley High School. She went on to Eau Claire Vocational School and then married Francis Derks on September 12, 1959, at St. Mary's Czestochowa Catholic Church.

Pat was employed at Union National Bank in Eau Claire and F & M Bank in Stanley, worked together with Francis on the farm and also was a longtime dedicated employee at All Saints Parish.

She was a very active and devout member of the church communities of St. Mary's Czestochowa and Holy Family Parish. She loved being part of and was an active member of the Red Hatters and Stanley Glamour Gals, Pat loved to cook and bake and made every family holiday and meal special, where everyone's favorite dish was sure to be represented. She also was sought after for her delicious desserts. Pat always put her family before herself and was a very loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children: Kenneth (Gloria) Derks of Piano, TX, Carol (Luis Felipe) Vanegas of Blaine, MN, , Mary Derks (significant other Scott Larson) of St. Paul, MN, Robert (Karen) Derks of Greenville, WI, and Jean (Kevin) Doherty of Watertown, WI; grandchildren: Dustin (Meghan) Betterly, Alexandra and Maria Vanegas, Rachel and Rebecca Derks, and Nathan and Megan Doherty; great-grandchildren: Keira Betterly and Jamie Vanegas; one brother, John (Mary) Holewinski of Stanley; and many nieces and nephews. Pat is preceded in death by her , parents; and husband, Francis (2012).

A funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 14 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley, with Father William Felix officiating. Burial was in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. rosary by the Legion of Mary. Visitation was also on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
