Strade, Mr./Mrs. Edwin (Gold – 20 FEB 1970)

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Strade of Abbotsford (Clark Co., Wis.) observed the golden anniversary of their marriage during the past weekend. The anniversary date was February 20, 1970.

On Saturday, April 25 a 4:30 dinner was served at the First United Church of Christ, Colby, to 45 relatives, among whom were the three daughters of the honored couple, all of the 10 grandchildren except one, Sgt. Kenneth Kademan, serving in the Air Force in Thailand, and the five great-grandchildren and brothers and sister of Mr. and Mrs. Strade.

For the occasion, Mrs. Strade and her attendant at the wedding, Mrs. Peter (Hattie Strade) Miller os Oshkosh, a sister of Mrs. Strade, had corsages of gold carnations. Mr. Strade and his best man, Richard Neuhaus of Lake Geneva, a brother of the bride of 50 years, had gold carnation boutonnieres.

The daughters had corsages of gold mums.

The tables were decorated with god roses and dolls, and an anniversary cake baked and decorated by their daughter, Mrs. Alfred Telford.

In the evening, open house was held from 8 to 12 at the Abbotsford City Hall, with dancing and refreshments.

Sund no one, 34 guests were served dinner at the Strade home.

Mrs. Strade, the former Hulda Neuhaus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Neuhaus, was born in Manitowoc County July 27, 1901. She was educated in Newston and Colby schools.

Mr. Strade, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Strade, was born October 5, 1898 near Curtiss. He farmed at his parent's place.

On February 25, 1920, they were married at the home of the bride's parents, with the Rev. William Hueneman officiating.

They farmed until 1955, when they retired and came to Abbotsford. Mr. Strade was employed by Rolohome at Marshfield for nine years, and in 1966 began full retirement to enjoy his hobby of card playing.

While in the Curtiss area he served for 12 years on the school board of the Clovernook School. He served as a church officer of the United Church of Christ, Colby, for three years.

Mrs. Strade was a member of the Women's Guild for the past 38 years.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Strade are in good health and enjoy keeping up their home yard and garden. Mrs. Strade also spend many hours in doing needlework.

Their three daughters are: Mrs. Leonard (Bernice) Kademan of Curtiss, and Mrs. Alfred (Jeanette) Telford and Mrs. Harold (Dolores) Sandley, both of Spencer.

Mrs. Strade has one sister, Mrs. Walter (Ella) Baumgartner of rural Colby, and four brothers, Otto Neuhaus of Cleveland, Richard Neuhaus of Lake Geneva, Paul Neuhaus of Hot Spring, Arkansas, and Herb Neuhaus of Abbotsford.

Mr. Strade has three brothers and four sisters: Harry Strade and Mrs. Peter (Hattie) Miller of Oshkosh, Ben Strade of Sheboygan, Clarence Strade of Livermore, California, Mrs. Ella Schorer of Green Vista, Abbotsford, Ms. Oscar (Bertha) Dittmeyer of Kiel, and Mrs. Ed (Edna) Rannow of Appleton.

Clarence Strade of California and Paul Neuhaus of Arkansas were unable to attend the festivities.

Guests came from Lake Geneva, Plymouth, Appleton, Oshkosh, Kiel, Sheboygan, Stevens Point, Marshfield, Spencer, Unity, Colby, Abbotsford, Wausau, Curtiss, Loyal, Owen, Granton, Milwaukee, and Minnesota.
