Rodman, Shirley A. (Lehman) (22 JAN 1938 - 17 MAR 2019)

Shirley A. Rodman, 81, of Medford, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at the Aspirus Medford Hospital.

Shirley was born Jan. 22, 1938, in Athens, to Edmund and Rose (Romang) Lehman. She attended Athens High School. She married Floyd Rodman on June 16, 1956, in Pine City, Minn. Floyd survives.

Shirley is further survived by her children: Deb (George) Harder, Jim (Kelly) Rodman, Ken (Sue) Rodman, Brian (Julie) Rodman and Shelby (Kevin) Meyer, all of Medford; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Diann (Ron) Apfelbeck of Medford; brother Gary (Mary Lou) Lehman of Edgar; and sister-in-law, Kitty Lehman, of Edgar, further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Rose Lehman; and a brother, Eddie Lehman.

Shirley worked as a waitress for several restaurants in the Medford and Athens area. Later in life she became a self-taught seamstress. She hemmed wedding dresses, fixed zippers and clothing and made small stuffed animals. There wasn’t anything she could not do with that machine. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, crossword puzzles, trout fishing, and loved birds, especially cardinals. She loved to bake cookies for family - her most favorite being butterscotch chocolate chip.

Per Shirley’s request, cremation rites have been accorded and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. For those who wish to donate in honor of Shirley, memorial contributions can be given to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with arrangements.
