Johnson, Bessie May (23 February 1894-7 Aug 1991)
STANLEY--Bessie May Ecker, 87, of Stanley, died Wednesday evening,
August 7, 1991 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley.
She was born in Sheldon, Iowa on February 23, 1904, the daughter of
Emma (Paul) and Harry Robinson. The family moved to the town of Worden
when she was a young girl.
She was married George Johnson on November 3, 1926 in the town of
Worden. They farmed in the town of Worden until 1951 when they moved to
Stanley. George died in 1955.
She married Bill Ecker on June 11, 1960 at the Stanley Brethren
Church. Bill died in 1986. Bessie entered Victory Memorial Nursing Home
in the fall of 1989.
She was a member of the Stanley Church of the Brethren and the
Pleasant Valley Mothers Club.
Survivors include one son, Marlin (Phyllis) Johnson of Stanley; one
brother, Edgar Robinson of Iowa; one sister Goldie Winger of Walworth;
six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents; both husbands; one daughter,
Doris; one brother and four sisters.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at the Stanley Church of the
Brethren, with the Rev. Arnold Lein officiating. Burial will be in the
East Side Cemetery, Stanley.
Friends may call Friday at the Plombon Funeral Home.
