Langiewicz, Richard J. “Rich” (7 JUN 1932 - 30 MAR 2019)
Richard J. “Rich” Langiewicz, 86 of Stanley, died peacefully with his family by
his side on March 30, 2019 at home. He was born on June 7, 1932 in Thorp the son
of the late Alex and Eva (Rogalski) Langiewicz.
Rich grew up attending Eidsvold grade school and then joined the Army in 1953.
After his discharge he married Virginia “Bunny” Markowski on August 23, 1955 at
St. Anne’s Catholic Church-Stanley.
The couple farmed by Greenwood for a time and Rich and his brother ran a Gas
Station in Greenwood. The family then moved to Minneapolis where Rich worked for
Continental Bakery. In 1971 they moved to Stanley where they owned/operated Rich
and Bunny’s Tavern. The couple also owned supper clubs; the Harmony
House-Stanley and Hidden Haven-Thorp.
Rich was the love of Bunny’s life. He was a fun and loving father and
grandfather. He was a talented bartender well known for his old fashioneds. A
few of the things he most enjoyed were fishing, gardening, having camp fires,
and spending time with his dog, Pierre. There are so many memories that will be
forever cherished.
Rich is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bunny of Stanley, their children,
Denise (Dick) Schneider of Waddell, AZ, Tamara (Bill) Peloquin of Boyd, Richard
Langiewicz, Jr. and Kerry (Jane) Langiewicz both of Stanley and Michele (Bill)
Thielke of Birchwood, 13 grandchildren, Jennifer (Dennis) Gruba, Jeffrey Streit,
Joseph (Patz) Streit, Rachel (Anel) Gerzic, Heather Langiewicz, Colton
Langiewicz, Sara (Mack) Schunk, Nicole Langiewicz, Josh (Brittney)
Langiewicz, Kelsey Langiewicz, Michael Mertens, Kelly Mertens and Kurtis
Thielke, 11 great grandchildren, McKayla, Jeffrey, Zoey, Ela, Landon, Sydney,
Addison, Harper, Haven, Ivy and Hazel and two sisters, Joanne (Roger) Freese of
Withee and Audrey Peterson of Stanley.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Alex, Valentine “Willie”,
and Adam and his sisters, Delores Ramberg, Eve Rixford, Clarese Rhode, Henrietta
Harder and Leona Lato.
A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Holy Family
Catholic Church-Stanley with Father William Felix officiating. Visitation will
be from 4-8 PM on Tuesday at the Plombon Funeral Home with a 7:30 PM Rosary and
one hour prior to services Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
