Nitek, Stanley Jr. (28 JUN 1943 - 24 MAR 2019)

Stanley Nitek Jr. (affectionately known as Jr.) age 75, of Holcombe, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019.

He was born on June 28, 1943 to Stanley Sr. and Sophie (Gramacki) Nitek of Conrath. In 1964 he married Jane Lorenz. During the first years of their marriage, they worked in Chicago doing construction during the summer and ran a trap line and logged in the winter. Jr.’s logging life first started using a horse to pull the logs from the woods. During their marriage they had 3 sons; Frank, Jesse John and Randy.

In 1977, Jr. married Darlene David and together they had two children Jessica and Dustin. The pair established Nitek Logging. They operated Broken Arrow until 1992 when they sold the bar and moved to Holcombe and later built Lakeside Lodge.

From a young age Jr. was an extremely hard worker, he never seemed to stop. There were not many areas that he did not try his hand in; carpentry, logging, trapping, farming, landscaping, rip rapping, he was a Merchant Marine, a bar owner; a true entrepreneur by nature.

When Jr. would take time away from work he enjoyed traveling with Darlene to Las Vegas and Florida, he ventured out west elk hunting and enjoyed trips to Port Washington in mid-summer for the salmon run. Though, there were times on these trips if he didn’t catch his limit he’d buy fish off the pier to bring home and nobody was the wiser. In 1967 Jr landed a catch of a lifetime, a 74in 107lb sturgeon; a replica hangs today at Flater’s Resort.

Jr. enjoyed the Packers and became quite the Brewers fan in the past 5 years. He especially enjoyed when Dustin was involved in sports, he was so proud when he made it to state for both football and track and field.

Jr. loved a hot cup of coffee and a good game of cribbage, he was particularly proud of his 29 hand. A Euchre tournament, bingo at LCO, or a game of cards with family or friends made him a happy man as well.

Jr. is survived by his 3 sons; Frank, Randy, and Dustin (Jillian) Nitek. Stepchildren Laurie Franks and Chris Van Treese. Grandchildren Trenton and Whitney. Step grandchildren; Angie, Jacy, Alyse, Kayla, and Jared and 6 great grandchildren. Sister Rose (Robert) Soltis, brothers; Fred (June) Nitek and James (Jacqu) Nitek. Sister in laws; Kathy (Irvin) Soviak, Debbe (Mike) Hynes, Judy Schirmer (Jeff Mawby), and Jacki Kromery, and many nieces and nephews and dear friends, too numerous to name.

Jr. was preceded in death by his wife Darlene, parents Stanley Sr. and Sophie, brothers Frank and Henry, father and mother in law Bill and Virginia David, and two young children; Jesse John and Jessica.

Jr. will forever be remembered as a tough, hardworking man with an incredibly tender heart.

A celebration of Jr.’s life will be held at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to noon.
