Rueden, Esther V. (Westphal) (15 AUG 1925 - 1 APR 2019)
Esther V. Rueden, age 93, of Abbotsford, passed away surrounded by her family on
Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Waterford in Colby under the tender care of
hospice.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019, at St. Peter
Lutheran Church in Dorchester. The Rev. Shawn Andersen presided. Interment
followed at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Family and friends were welcomed
from 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. The
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford was entrusted with the
arrangements.
Esther was born on August 15, 1925, the daughter of William and Mary (Baronsky)
Westphal in the Town of Holton. She farmed in the Town of Holton most of her
life and worked as a CNA at the Continental Manor in Abbotsford for 35 years.
Esther enjoyed yardwork, reading and especially loved her Sunday family dinners.
Esther is survived by four children: Gregory Rueden of Abbotsford and his
daughters, Jessica, Kristel and Ashley; Cathy (Donald) Witt of Abbotsford and
their sons, Mike and Dan; Tammey (Bryon) Broeske of Dorchester and their
daughters, Kayleigh, Shayla and Nicolette; and Scott (Patty) Rueden of
Abbotsford and their daughter, Kelsey; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is
further survived by many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and one sister: Gilbert
Westphal, Leona Bramucker and Vernon Westphal.
