Hanson, Burton A. (16 FEB 1891 – 8 JUN 1970)
Burton A. Hanson, a former resident of the Colby area, died June 8, 1970 in the
Oak Park, Illinois hospital after a brief illness.
He was born February 16, 1891 near Delavan, Wisconsin. In 1917 he bought a farm
a mile east of Colby, where he lived until 1934. He returned to the Delavan area
and lived there until his recent retirement, when he moved to Maywood, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Edna Bakewell Hanson; a daughter, Mrs. Jean Dean of
Ferguson, Missouri; a step-daughter, Mrs. Marion Papistella of Maywood; a
step-son, Vernon Bakewell of Newton, Connecticut, and nine grandchildren.
While living at Colby the family was active in community affairs and were
members of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Hanson is a sister of Theodore Lenz of
Colby.
Funeral services were held in Delavan June 11, with interment in the Lyman
Norwegian Cemetery, between Delavan and Whitewater.
