Barts, Mr./Mrs. Harvey Sr. (Gold - 28 MAR 1970)
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Barts Sr., route 1, Colby, celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary Sunday.
The anniversary date was March 28, but the celebration was delayed to enable
some of the guests to attend.
A reception and dance were held at the Trianon Ballroom and a mock wedding was
staged about 11 o'clock, with Eugene Wehrman as bride, Josie Yessa, the groom,
John Kern and Ester Yessa, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kamer, and Hoover Yessa and
Mrs. Wehrman as attendants, and Marie Wilde, the preacher.
Mr. and Mrs. Barts were married at the old Lutheran Church in Colby March 28,
1920, and had farmed in the town of Frankfort (Marathon Co., Wis.) until their
retirement. They retained five acres of the home farm, where they continue to
live. They are now members of Peace Lutheran Church in the town of Frankfort.
Mrs. Barts is the former Anna Kroeplin.
All four of their wedding attendants were present for the event. They are Mr.
and Mrs. Herman Podevels and Mr. and Mrs. Armin Barts. The ladies are all
sisters, and Armin and Harvey Barts are brothers.
The couple has four children, Lydia, Mrs. Arthur Weideman of Abbotsford, Mrs.
Gertrude Bungert of Athens, Harvey Jr. of Abbotsford, and Madeline, Mrs. Kenneth
Schreiber of route 2, Athens.
Guests from Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, Colorado, Canada, Wyoming, Wausau,
Marathon City, Stratford, Athens, Edgar and Colby attended the celebration.
