Weinke, Martha M. (13 MAR 1883 – 20 JUL 1970)
Mrs. Martha Marie Weinke, 87, died Monday, July 20, 1970, at 3 a.m. at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Sam Remus, town of Johnson (Marathon Co., Wis.).
The body lay in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, and Wednesday
noon was taken to Peace Lutheran Church, town of Frankfort (Marathon Co.), where
services were held at 2 p.m. The Rev. Franklin Schroeder officiated. Burial was
made in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Weinke was born Martha Wendorf, March 13, 1883, in the town of Stettin, and
was married there May 12, 1903, to Julius F. Weinke. They farmed in that
township until 1928, when they moved to a farm in the town of Johnson. They
retired in 1953. Mr. Weinke died in 1962.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Sam (Erna) Remus and Mrs. Henry (Edith)
Lehman, route 2, Athens, and Mrs. Frieda Peter, route 2, Colby, and two sons,
Fred Weinke, route 1, Colby, and Alfred Weinke, route 1, Rib Falls.
There are 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1
great-great-grandchild. She also leaves one sister, Mrss. Anna Zunker, Wausau.
Four brothers and four sister preceded her in death.
