Staves, Lawrence (20 October 1905-4 February 1950)

HUMBIRD--Word has been received here by relatives of the death in
Wausau of Lawrence Staves, 44, who because of despondency over ill
health shot himself Saturday afternoon, February 4, in his own home.

He was born on a farm near Humbird and grew up here, graduating from
the high school and later attending business college. For a while he was
manager of a Woolworth Store in Davenport, Iowa, later moving to Wausau
where he started a furniture store.

Survivors are his wife, and three children, Gerald, 18, Patricia, 13,
and Ronald, 6. Also one sister Mrs. Mattie Staves (Smith) of Humbird, and
five brothers, Donald and William, both of Humbird, Kenneth of
Merrillan, Irvin of Fairchild and Harry of Eau Claire. He was buried on
Tuesday in Wausau.
