Junior Kiwanian for April (Kunze - 2019)



Katie Kunze

The Neillsville Kiwanis Club has welcomed Neillsville High School senior Katie Kunze as its Junior Kiwanian for April.

Kunze was introduced at the club’s April 1 meeting. She will participate in the remainder of the club’s Monday meetings in April.

“The Neillsville Kiwanis Club is pleased to have Katie Kunze as our Junior Kiwanian and wishes her continued success as she pursues her advanced education and career goals.” Neillsville Kiwanian Brent Shoup wrote in a press release.

Kunze is the daughter of Marcy and Brian Kunze.

While maintaining a high academic record throughout her four years, Kunze has also been involved in numerous extra-curricular clubs, athletics and community activities. She is a member of the National Honor Society, choir, show choir and Spanish club, and is a four-year Neillsville High Student Council member. She is the yearbook editor, is involved in 4-H and has completed at the state level in forensics.

Athletically, Kunze has been a four-year member of the basketball team, played softball for two years and then competed in track and field her last two years.

Her involvement in community and volunteer work includes church youth group activity and a mission trip, helping at the Clark County Humane Society, highway cleanup, assisting with Neillsville Recreation Department events and working at the 4-H County Fair food stand.

Kunze is employed as a part-time waitress, cook and dishwasher at Schmitty’s on Main.

Following graduation in May, she plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and major in nursing.
