Schneider, Verland J. (1 MAY 1935 - 10 APR 2019)
Verland J. Schneider, age 83, of Abbotsford, passed away at Atrium Post Acute
Care in Marshfield on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17 at
St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. Father Joseph Redfern will preside.
Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors
provided by the Colby VFW Post #2227. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00
a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.
Verland was born on May 1, 1935, the son of George and Florence (Hainzlsperger)
in Colby. He graduated from Colby High School in 1953. Verland served in the
U.S. Army stationed stateside during the Korean War and later served in Korea
after the war. Verland was united in marriage to Sherry Bragg on June 12, 1965
at St. Mary Catholic Church in Colby. He worked at Wick Homes in Spencer and
Weyerhauser Doors in Marshfield. Verland was a member of St. Mary Catholic
Church. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, camping, fishing and playing cards.
Most importantly, Verland cherished his family.
Verland is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sherry; seven children: David
(Christine) of Powell, WY, Kathie (Gregory) Fifield of Abbotsford, Wanda (Brian)
Duchatschek of Oshkosh, Brenda (Bruce) Duchatschek of Marshfield, Tammy
Schneider of Colby, Donald of Marshfield and Janet Kimball of Boyd; 13
grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is
further survived by his three siblings: George (Delores) Schneider of Stratford,
Florence (Everett) Johnson of Friendship and Danny (Darlene) Schneider of
Spencer; his mother-in-law, Marcella Lord of Marshfield; many nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by father, George; his birth-mother, Marie Punke; his
step-mother, Florence and his brother, Melvin.
