Schupp, Mary Bertha (Kelnhofer) (18 DEC 1903 - 22 FEB 1991)
Funeral services were conducted here Monday morning at Holy Rosary Catholic
Church for Mrs. Mary B. Schupp, 87, Medford resident who died Friday afternoon
at her home.
Rev. Ray Gonia officiated and burial took place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of
Little Black. Grandsons served as pallbearers. The body lay in state at Hemer
Funeral Home, Medford, where rosary services were held Sunday evening.
The former Mary B. Kelnhofer, daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Zellner)
Kelnhofer, was born Dec. 18, 1903, at Stratford and received her education in
the Medford area schools. Her marriage to Paul Schupp, who preceded her in death
Jan. 21, 1962, took place here Oct. 20, 1925, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
After their marriage the couple farmed in the Town of Medford. She also worked
here for 21 years at Memorial Hospital of Taylor County, retiring in 1982 at the
age of 76. An avid oil painter throughout her life, she was a member of the
former Black River Art Society. She was also a member of Holy Rosary Catholic
Church.
Surviving are her five daughters, Wilma, Mrs. Gerald Zastrow, and Lucille, Mrs.
Frank “Bud” Drost, Rita, Mrs. Sam Way, all of Medford, Jeanne, Mrs. Robert
Surman, Lake Holcombe, and Mary, Mrs. William Luterbach, Merrill, 21
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include three sisters, Margaret, Mrs. Paul Feddick, Medford,
Mrs. Frances Witt, Wisconsin Rapids, and Veronica, Mrs. Edward Ashbeck,
Auburndale, and four brothers, Charles, Medford, Frank, Medford, Theodore,
Stoughton, and Clarence, Florida.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Anna, Rose, Louise and Theresa.
