Smith, Bernadette A. “Bernie” (12 NOV 1956 - 5 APR 2019)

Bernadette A. “Bernie” Smith, age 62, of Dorchester, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019, at her residence.

A prayer service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Father Tim Oudenhoven will preside. Family and friends are welcome from 4 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bernadette was born on Nov. 12, 1956, in Medford, the daughter of Norman and Delores (Scheuer) Smith. Bernie was paralyzed since she was nineteen years old. She enjoyed her cats: Sasha, Punky, Peppy and Smokey. She also loved being outside in the sun, playing computer games, board games and card games. She was known for being a shop-a-holic.

Bernadette is survived by her mother, Delores Smith of Dorchester; caregiver, Brian Robida of Dorchester; sisters: Nancy Smith of Boyd and Pamella Smith of Owen; nephews: Eric Smith and Kurt Block; niece, Aimee Frederick; many great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father, Norman Smith.
