While a banner season in the lumber industry was recently predicted, the present
indications are that the cut will fall considerable short of the amount
estimated, owing to the heavy snowfalls experienced recently in Northern
Wisconsin.
The indications are that they will have to break camps within the next few
weeks, as the warm weather will soften the snow and cause water enough to make
it impossible for men to work, With the market still brisk, this shortage may
mean a serious thing to the builders before next season’s cut is harvested.
