Art Meier has sold his grocery and general store, a landmark for years in the
town of Holway, to Chris F. Brunner of Stetsonville. Brunner will take
possession Saturday, April 1.
In May of this year Meier will have been operator of the store for 20 years,
having purchased it from his father, Fred Meier, in 1924. The father bought the
store 19 years before that, in 1906, from Henry Liberty, who was operating the
store, a sawmill, farms and other enterprises in Holway at the time.
The senior Meier, prior to his purchase of the store, has operated the Riverside
hotel in Medford. The original store building burned eight years ago and Art
rebuilt it.
