Gierl, Victoria Ann (22 AUG 1970)
Miss Victoria Ann Gierl and Charles Donald Palacek, both of Freeport, Illinois,
were united in holy matrimony during a nuptial high mass at St. Mary's Catholic
Church, Colby, Saturday morning, August 22, 1970, at 11 o'clock.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Klinkhammer of Abbotsford (Clark Co., Wis.), presented
their daughter in marriage to the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Palacek of Park
Falls.
The Rev. Francis P. Rushman officiated, and music was provided by St. Mary's
Children's Choir, with Sister Patricia as organist. Special songs during the
ceremony were "Ave Maria", "Pater Noster" and "Mother Dearest, Mother Fairest."
The bride was attired in a sari imported from Banares, India. The sari was of
hand woven white silk embellished with intricate designs of gold. A golden
fillet encircled the bride's forehead, and the sari was draped to form a veil.
She carried three long stemmed red roses, and at the recessional presented one
to her mother and one to the groom's mother. The coiffure of the bride was done
by Mrs. Elayne Gosse.
Her attendants were arrayed in imported silk saris of double hues of blue,
orange, brown, wine, green and red. Golden fillets were worn around their
foreheads. Each carried one long stemmed red rose.
Attendants at the ceremony were Miss Judith Gierl, Landstuhl, Germany, sister of
the bride, maid of honor, and Robert Palacek, Park Falls, brother of the groom,
as best man; Mr. and Mrs. Keith Zimmerman of Minneapolis, brother-in-law and
