Diane M. Ertl of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) and Lowell H. Merwin of Eau Claire were
united in marriage Saturday, September 12, 1970, in a 2:30 p.m. ceremony
performed y Rev. Eldore F. Messerschmidt of Immanuel Lutheran Church at
Marshfield.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Ertl of Marshfield, and the
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Merwin of rural Abbotsford.
Soloist during the ceremony was Mrs. Walter Embke. Organist was Paul Muehl.
Judith Close of Thorp was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Patti Merwin
of Abbotsford and Miss Charlene Moen of Marshfield.
John Merwin of Milwaukee was the best man, and Curtiss Merwin of Milwaukee and
Terry Ertl of Marshfield were the groomsmen.
Seating the guests were Dean Merwin of Milwaukee and Dennis Ertl of Marshfield.
Susie Ertl was the miniature bride, and ring bearer was Brian Merwin.
The bride wore a white A-line floor length gown of silk organza and Venetian
lace. The dress had a high ruffled neckline, long lady bishop sleeves with deep
cuffs, and a detachable chapel train. She wore a petal headpiece with silk
illusion veiling, and carried a cascade of white iceberg pompons and gold wave
roses.
The bridesmaids wore floor length formals of olive and Venetian lace, with long
lady bishop sleeves with deep cuffs.
They each had matching petal headpieces and carried hand bouquets of yellow and
bronze pompons with tombful daisies.
Following the ceremony was a dinner at the church hall, and a reception and
dance at the Eagles Hall.
The bride is a graduate of the Granton (Clark Co., Wis.) High School and is
employed at Thorp Finance Corporation.
Mr. Merwin is a graduate of the Dor-Abby High School, and in 1967 graduated from
North Central Technical Institute at Wausau.. He is a customer service
representative for United Parcel Service.
Following a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and Michigan, the couple is
making their home at 2317 John Street, Eau Claire.
