Stecker, Fred W. (28 NOV 1887 – 21 OCT 1970)
Funeral services for Fred Stecker, 82, were Saturday morning, October 24, 1970,
at 11 a.m. Interment was made in the Green Grove (St. Paul Lutheran) Cemetery.
The Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated at the funeral rites at the First United Church
of Christ. Lulloff Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Stecker died early Wednesday evening of a lingering illness at the Colonial
House Nursing Home of Colby.
Born in the town of Colby (Clark Co., Wis.) on November 28, 1887, Fred William
Stecker was educated in Colby schools. He married Ida Schriber (Schreiber?)
December 17, 1913, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Colby.
They farmed in the town of Colby for 47 years. He was the assessor for the town
for 11 years. For the last seven years they lived in the city of Colby.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ.
Besides his wife, several children survive. They are Sylvester of Arpin, Leo of
Park Falls, Floyd of Ashland, Mrs. Kenneth (Erna) Callahan of Minneapolis, and
Mrs. Bernard (Jeanette) Sommer of Curtiss.
He had 31 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Mrs. Frank Meyer of Colby, and a brother, William Stecker of New
Richmond, also survive.
A daughter and a son and two (??) preceded him in death.
