Dettman, Mr./Mrs. Ruben (40th – 18 OCT 1970)

Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Dettman of rural Dorchester observed their 40th Wedding Anniversary at a surprise party at the Mayville Town Hall on Saturday, October 17, 1970. Their children and grandchildren hosted the event.

Ruben Dettman and Clara Scheunemann were married at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens, October 18, 1930, with the Rev. Malotky officiating. The couple farmed in the Curtiss area (Clark Co., Wis.) until about three years ago, when they retired and moved to the town of Holton (Marathon Co., Wis.).

All of their children, except Karen of Chicago, together with their families, were present for the anniversary party. They are: LeRoy of Rio, Mrs. Roland (Betty) Haufe, town of Mayville, Mrs. Dennis (Janet) Potocnik, Medford, and Dennis, town of Holton. Also present were five of the honored couple's thirteen grandchildren.

Others attending the party came from Dorchester, Medford, Curtiss, Owen, Stratford, Marshfield, Colby, Athens, Wausau, Edgar, Rio, Marinette, Stoughton and North Dakota.
