Members of Christ United Church, Athens, and First United Church of Christ,
Colby, sponsored an appreciation dinner on Sunday, October 25, 1970, in
recognition of five eyars of service and community leadership given by their
pastor, Kenneth A. Dix. To the respective churches and communities.
The dinner was held following the morning worship in the church in Colby.
Joseph H. Boettcher, Colby, served as master of ceremonies for the program that
followed the dinner.
Dr. Eugene C. Jaberg, professor of speech and communication at United
Theological Seminary, New Brighton, Minnesota, and a friend of the local pastor,
spoke during the program. Dr. Jaberg had also delivered the sermons in the two
churches during the morning worship.
Mrs. Harold C. Klessig, president of the Women's Guild in Colby, presented the
tribute on behalf of the women of the church. Morris Erickson, president of
Christ United Church, Athens, spoke on behalf of that congregation, and Mr.
Boettcher spoke on behalf of the Colby congregation.
