Carstensen, Agnes “Aggie” M. (Stauner) Opachan (22 AUG 1926 - 20 APR 2019)
Agnes “Aggie” M. Carstensen, 92, of the town of Little Black, died on April 20,
2019 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24 at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church with Father Michael Hayden officiating. Visitation will take
place at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
Internment of cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery
at a later date.
Aggie was born on Aug. 22, 1926 in Medford. She was of the Catholic faith and
completed her education at Holy Rosary Catholic School. She worked at Medford
Laundry for six years and then Weather Shield for 22 years. She married Peter
Opachan in Oct. of 1945 and was later divorced. She married Ray Carstensen on
June 29, 1968 and he survives. Aggie loved her Shih Tzu/Poodle dog, Miss Molly,
who survives. Aggie also enjoyed fishing, gardening, crocheting and canning
vegetables, especially sauerkraut.
In addition to her husband, Aggie is survived by her children, Barbara (Larry)
Born of Medford, Patricia (Larry) Dazenski of Los Lunas, N.M., Mary Hjelm of
Anoka, Minn. and Peter (Becky) Opachan of Summerfield, N.C.; six grandchildren;
three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two
step-great-grandchildren; sister, Catherine Dassow of Medford-Whittlesey;
sister-in-law, Margaret Stauner of Greenwood; brothers-in-law, Manny Gillis of
Medford, Baldwin (Sandy) Carstensen of Milwaukee and Harold Carstensen of
Merrill.
Aggie is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Susan (Kellner) Stauner;
six sisters; and eight brothers, two of whom died in infancy.
Memorial donations in honor of Agnes can be given to her family, with
designation at a later date.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with
arrangements.
