Gilles, Joseph Albert (6 JUL 1932 - 2 DEC 2007)
Joseph Albert Gilles, 75, of the town of Edson, went home in heaven on Sunday,
Dec. 2, 2007.
Joe was born on July 6, 1932, the eighth child of Joseph and Bernice (Paulsen)
Gilles. He was proud to have been born and lived all his life on the family
farm.
Joe married Mary Grohn on Nov. 14, 1953. They just celebrated 54 years of
marriage. They have three children Debra, Kathy and Joe. He operated the family
farm for 30 years. He was an avid gardener and we will miss his flowers and
produce. He especially enjoyed attending auctions.
He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran church in Boyd Wisconsin for 54 years.
During that time he served as elder for many years. He was also on the Board of
Directors for AMPI (Associated Milk Producers, Inc.) for several years.
Joe is survived by: his wife, Mary; two daughters, Debra (Peter) Nordgren of
Lake Nebagamon, Kathy (Ken) Nuenke of Eau Claire; and one son, Joe D. (Jane)
Gilles of Cadott, who is running the family farm; five grandchildren, Eric
(Kendra) and Todd Nordgren, Jenna, Michelle, and Joey Gilles; one brother,
Bernard (Bernadine) of Payson, Ariz.; five sisters, Arlene (Ray) Nelson,
Bernadine (George) Jackson both of Cadott, Cecile Wahl and Marge Seffernick of
Seattle, Wash. and Nila McQuary of Commerce, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Olga
Gilles of Kenosha.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph and Bernice Gilles; and a
brother, Howard Gilles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday Dec. 7 at St. John’s Lutheran
church in Cadott with Rev. Raymond Bell officiating. Burial will be in St.
Peters Lutheran church cemetery in the town of Edson.
Visitations will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran
church in Cadott.
Visitation will also be one hour before services on Friday at the church.
Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are requested for the church building of St. Peter’s Lutheran church
in Boyd.
