Sauer, Mr./Mrs. Herb (Silver – 20 OCT 1970)
Mr. and Mrs. Herb Sauer of route 2, Colby (Clark Co., Wis.), celebrated their
Silver Wedding Anniversary Saturday evening, October 31, 1970, with a dinner at
the Redwood Club at Unity.
The honored couple was presented with flowers. Hers was a corsage of red and
white carnations, and his a white carnation boutonniere. Both were edged with
silver leaves.
The centerpiece was an appropriately decorated cake and a blue Viking
candleholder with a silver candle, which was a gift from their son, Roger.
Attending were members of their family, Mr. and Mrs. Nick (Eunice) Kleparski of
Unity, Clifford of Wausau, and Roger, at home. They had one other child, Walter,
who is deceased.
There is also a grandchild, five and one-half month old Michelle Dee Ann
Kleparski.
Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Al Guth of Dorchester. Mrs. Guth was one of the
attendants at their wedding. Other members of the wedding party were Mrs.
Dominic Zicco of McHenry, Illinois, and Al Sauer of Milwaukee, who were unable
to attend.
Mrs. Sauer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Loos of Colby, were also among the
dinner guests.
Later, they gathered with other friends and relatives for an evening of dancing
and socializing at the Dorchester Memorial Hall.
A highlight of the evening was a mock wedding performed for them and other
guests by relatives of Mr. Sauer, and a friend.
Miss Karen Guth, a niece of Ms. Sauer, circulated the guest book.
Guests attending were from Chicago and Woodstock, Illinois, and Wauwatosa,
Waukesha, Cudahy, Marathon, Wausau, Auburndale, Marshfield, Stratford, Medford,
Milan, Dorchester, Spencer, Unity, Abbotsford, Colby, and surrounding areas.
Mr. and Mrs. Sauer were married October 20, 1945, at St. Mary's Catholic Church,
Colby, before Father N.B. Betchta. On Sunday, October 24, they renewed their
marriage vows at the same church, after mass, with Father Francis Rushman
officiating.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Sauer are employed at the Harmony Cooperative at Colby. He is
a dairy equipment salesman, and she works in the hardware department.
