Brandt, John J. – Rev. (10 FEB 1890 – 23 NOV 1970)
The Rev. John J. Brandt, 80, a former pastor at Abbotsford and Dorchester (Clark
Co., Wis.), died Monday, November 23, 1970, at his home at Wausau.
Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church there Friday, and burial as
made in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
The Rev. Brandt was born February 10, 1890 at Avon, South Dakota. He was
ordained into the ministry of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, in 1917.
Until 1927, he served in areas of North Dakota, when he came to Abbotsford and
Dorchester.
In this area, he also served at Hewett from 1945 to 1955, and in 1968 moved to
Wausau.
His marriage to Emma Matthias took place November 15, 1917 at Waterloo, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Staples of
Wausau and Mrs. Melvin Schmidt of Orchard Park, New York, and two sons, Rev.
Victor Brandt of Palos Heights, Illinois, and Rev. Arlan Brandt of LaGrange
Park, Illinois.
