Hoffman, Earl LeRoy (18 December 1938 – 28 April 2019) With Flag
Earl LeRoy Hoffman, 80, died peacefully in his home in Greenwood surrounded by
his family April 28, 2019, under the care of Ministry Healthcare Hospice of
Marshfield.
He was born Dec. 18, 1938, in Cedar Rapids,. IA, and grew up on a dairy farm. He
served his country as an army engineer out of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, from 1957-
1958. He worked in many different areas but really liked the adventure of being
on his own and owned a variety of businesses, the last was Independent Dairy
Services, doing DHIA milk testing in this area. At the time of his death, he was
enjoying retirement with his wife in addition to transporting local children to
their school, which was one of his favorite pastimes. He and his wife have been
the directors of the local food pantry for the past four years, and he was also
a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood. He was the chairman of
the Republican Party of Clark County for several years and remained passionate
in politics. He was honored to receive the Alvan E. Bovay Award in 2011 as well.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his sisters: Shirley and Carol; his
sons: Darrel, Earl, David and Matthew; and his daughters: Dana, Irene and Emily;
and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorris, his father, Earl, and his
brothers: Michael and Bud and grandson Eric.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 9, 2019, from 10 a.m. until 12
p.m. at the Missionary Baptist Church, 302 N Main St., Greenwood. The service
will be held at noon with a meal to follow.
