Private First Class James D. Reel, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland W. Reel of
route 1, Colby, recently received the Army Commendation Medal while serving with
the Amercal Division near Chu Lai, Vietnam.
He earned the award for meritorious services as a mortar gunner in the
division's infantry brigade.
PFC Reel entered the Army in September 1969, and completed basic training at Ft.
Campbell, Kentucky. He was stationed at Ft. Polk, Louisiana before arriving
overseas.
He also holds a combat infantryman badge.
James is a 1966 graduate of Colby High School.
