Milas, Irene J. (18 FEB 1928 – 4 MAY 2019)
Irene J. Milas, age 91, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at
Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on
Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Thorp Funeral Home. Rev. John Sindler will officiate
and burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee, WI. Pallbearers will be:
Jessica and Mark Klesmit, Trisha and Mike Swienton, and Terri and Mark Karow.
Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home, on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until
time of service.
Irene J. Kostick was born on February 18, 1928, in the Town of Roosevelt (Taylor
Co., Wis.), rural Lublin, the daughter of Doman Sr. and Anna (Wienslaw) Kostick.
She was raised on the family farm and received her education at area schools.
Irene was united in marriage to Walter J. Milas on November 20, 1946, at St.
Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin, WI. They farmed in the Town of
Roosevelt until purchasing their own farm in the Town of Withee. They resided
there until they retired.
She had several interests, but especially enjoyed farming, gardening, going to
the casino with her family, crafting, cooking and painting.
Irene is survived by her children: Wally (Denise) Milas and Barbara Winchell;
three granddaughters: Trisha (Mike) Swienton, Jessica (Mark) Klesmit, and Terri
(Mark) Karow; six great-grandchildren: Orion, Archer, Hannah, Caden, Julia and
Brayden; one sister, Helen Zajac; two sisters-in- law: Florence Milas and
Annette Kostick; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter, in 1993; two
sons: Robert Milas and Thomas Milas in infancy; her son-in-law, Larry Winchell,
Sr.; and one brother, Doman Kostick, Jr.
