Hahto, Richard M. (29 SEP 1903 – 1 NOV 1974)
At 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, November 5, 1974 the Rev. David E. Wenger, pastor of
Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.), conducted funeral
services for Richard M. Hahto from the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home.
Interment was made at Riverside Cemetery (rural Withee), where military rites
were conducted by the Van Huizen-Fritz American Legion Post 123 of Owen.
Pallbearers were Edward Gosse, Sherman Gosse, Roger Pomputis Peter Deltova,
Toivo Maninen and Carl Maninen.
Mr. Hahto, 71, of route 1, Owen, was found dead in his home at Longwood around
10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 1974.
His body was discovered by his sister, Mrs. Martha Niemi, and it is believed he
suffered a heart attack. He had been in ill health for some time. Death is
believed to have occurred sometime Friday evening.
Mr. Hahto was born September 29, 1903 in Waukegan, Illinois, and had operated a
farm in the town of Longwood since 1911. A veteran of World War I, he was a
member of the Ban Huizen-Fritz American Legion Post 123, of Owen.
Surviving him are six sisters, Mrs. Martha Niemi and Mrs. Ted (Helen) Piekola,
both of Withee, Mrs. Elmer (Linda) Lytikanen, Maywood, Illinois, Mrs. Virginia
Acker and Mrs. Edward (Bertha) Krumrey, both of Grays Lake, Illinois, and Miss
Ina Hahto, Highland Park, Illinois, and a brother, John of Waukegan, Illinois.
A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
