Schnabel, June Aurelia (1 March 1925 – 14 November 2019)
June Schnabel, age 94 of Neillsville, died Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the
Clark County Care and Living Center in Owen.
June Aurelia Seelow was born on March 1, 1925 in Neillsville, the daughter of
William A. and Sarah R. (Pedder) Seelow. She attended Happy Hollow Elementary
School and Neillsville High School. On January 1, 1943 she was united in
marriage to Leon Carl Schnabel in Neillsville. For the next several years, she
raised her family, helped her husband on the farm and sold Avon for 40 years. In
1959, she went to school for six weeks to become a nursing assistant. She then
worked at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville for 22 years. After retiring from the
hospital, June also worked for seven years in the kitchen of the Neillsville
High School.
She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, a
member of the Happy Hollow Homemaker’s Club and she enjoyed working on ceramics.
She is survived by, two daughters, Sharon (Ken) Kirn of Willard, and Diane
(Dennis) Meyer of Cudahy, a daughter-in-law, Lois Schnabel of Marshfield, nine
grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. June
is further survived by four sisters, Berdella Carl, Cleone Zink, Janet
Harrington, Beverly Snyder, a brother, William (Karen) Seelow, two
sisters-in-law, Ardis Seelow and Donna Seelow and many nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her husband Leon, a son, Donald, three brothers,
Kenneth, Russell “Rusty” and Frederick “Fritz” Seelow, two sisters, Lilah Burr
and Donna Seelow and four brothers-in-law, Larry Zink, Herman “Butch” Carl,
Richard Harrington and Terry Snyder.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at St. John's
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Pastor Timothy Biebert will
officiate. Music will be provided by Judy Trunkel, organist. Visitation will be
held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday morning at the church. Interment will be
in Neillsville City Cemetery.
Honorary Casket Bearer is Bryce Grimm.
Casket Bearers are Keith Meyer, Mark Harrington, Eugene Carl, Roger Carl, Kent
Kirn, and DeWayne Seelow.
