Pocus, Sam T. (30 OCT 1884 – 22 DEC 1974)
A week ago today funeral services for Sam T. Pocus, 90, were held at the Holy
Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, with Father George Becker officiating. Burial was
made at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Pocus, a resident of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) for many years, was found dead
in his home in the fourth ward, Sunday, December 22, 1974, by a relative, Tony
Pomputis, who made it a point to check on his welfare periodically, as he had
been in failing health. Mr. Pomputis notified Art LePage, Withee Police Chief,
and he in turn notified the Clark County authorities, with Coroner Robert
Lulloff ruling that the deceased had died of natural causes.
Mr. Pocus was born in Lithuania on October 30, 1884, and had resided in Owen for
the past 45 years. He worked for the Master Package Corporation until his
retirement in 1954. His marriage on September 14, 1918 at Cicero, Illinois, was
to the former Ann Obuletis. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Connie Cherry of
Chicago.
