Hawks, Ruth (21 NOV 1902 – 11 JAN 1975)

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen for Mrs. Ruth Hawks, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), who died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at her home. She was 72 years of age.

The Rev. Robert Goessling, pastor of Ebenezer United Church of Christ at Stratford, conducted the services, and burial was made in Withee Riverside Cemetery.

An Eastern Star service was held Monday evening at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home.

The former Ruth Kerns was born November 21, 1902 at Benton Harbor, Michigan, where she attended high school, and was married to Donald Hawks on July 23, 1932, at Chicago. The couple moved to Withee and farmed in the town of Hixon from 1934 until 1963, when they moved to the village of Withee.

She was a member of United Church of Christ, Owen, Eastern Star, and a former member of White Shrine at Eau Claire.

Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Jacob (Henrietta) Reichertz, Milwaukee, Mrs. Roger (Doree) Meier, Menomonee Falls, and Mrs. John (Janice) Doroghazi, Bowling Green, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Owen( Esther) Narregang, Grand Haven, Michigan, and Mrs. Charles (Marvel Doorenbos, Kalamazoo, Michigan, and five grandchildren.

A sister preceded her in death.

Serving as pallbearers were S.E. Grimes, Louis Burhop, Lee Jensen, Clarence Nielsen, Frank Oleszewski, and Jens Smith.,
