Nowak, Ignatius (29 JUL 1894 – 12 MAR 1975)
Ignatius Nowak, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 12,
1875 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley. He was 80 years of age.
Service were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen.
Officiating was the Rev. George A. Becker, pastor. Burial was in Withee
Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Galen, Jerome and Peter Nowak, Larry and Robert Gowey, and
Kenneth Sandel.
Born July 29, 1894, in Poland, Mr. Nowak came to the United States in 1914 and
settled in Chicago, where he worked in the foundry. In 1920, he moved to the
town of Holway and operated a farm until1954. He then came to the city of Owen.
His marriage on November 14, 1916, at Chicago, was to the former Theresa
Krzykacz, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, matt, route 2, Owen; four daughters, Mrs.
Victoria Simpson, Evanston, Illinois, Mrs. Anton (Clara) Sandel, Thorp, Mrs.
Theodore (Helen) Gowey, Medford, and Mrs. John (Sylvia) Schaffer, Palatine,
Illinois; a brother, Martin, Thorp; 18 grandchildren, and 14
great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother and a grandchild.
