Kraut, Bertha (9 JUL 1887 – 14 APR 1975)

Bertha Kraut, 87, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), died Monday at the Lady of Good Council Nursing Home in St. Paul.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen. The Rev. Roger Tellock, pastor of St. Paul's American Lutheran Church in Curtiss, will officiated. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Colby.

Visitation may be made after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bertha Kraut was born July 9, 1887 in Konigsvald, Austria, and came to the United States in 1891. She resided at Curtiss and later moved to a farm in the Town of Green Grove. She received her education in Austria and also at Midway and Green Grove Schools.

For a period of time she worked as a seamstress for Sears Roebuck in Minneapolis. She returned to the village of Curtiss in 1921 and continued her profession as a seamstress. She was active as a sewing project leader for 4-H clubs.

Survivors include a foster son, Eugene Kraut, St. Paul, and several nieces and nephews.

A sister and five brothers preceded her in death.
