Jens, Bertha M. (29 APR 1891 – 03 MAY 1975)
At 1:30 Tuesday afternoon funeral services for Mrs. Bertha M. Jens, 84, city
(Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), were conducted from the United Church of Christ, Owen.
The Rev. Donald Stats, parish pastor, officiated, with burial being made in the
St. Paul's Cemetery, Town of Colby (obit says Town of Green Grove Cemetery).
Pallbearers were James Meyer, Donald Meyer, Robert Meyer, Phil Kersten, Tim
Jens, Jeff Jens, all grandsons.
Mrs. Jens, an area resident all her life, passed away Saturday at Victory
Memorial Hospital Nursing Home, Stanley, where she had been a resident for the
last two years.
The former Bertha Miller was born April 29, 1891 in the Town of Green Grove. Her
marriage on December 3, 1908, in Milwaukee, was to Harry Jens. He died December
19, 1950.
She lived in the Town of Green Grove, and also the Curtiss and Colby area before
coming to Owen in 1937. She worked as a cook at the Clark County Hospital until
retiring in 1955.
Survivors include a son, Lester Jens, Owen; two daughters, Mrs. Violet Kersten
and Mrs. Lester (Pearl) Meyer, both of Phillips; 10 grandchildren and 17
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter, three sisters, and
a brother.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ.
